Nuclear energy matters. It plays a vital role in meeting our nation’s electricity needs, protecting the environment, preserving fuel and technology diversity, and enhancing the nuclear science, technology, and medical fields, along with other applications. Nuclear plants produce electricity 24 hours a day, seven days a week with zero carbon emissions and provide important diversity to our nation’s fuel mix.
But nuclear plants are facing unprecedented challenges related to competitive markets that don’t adequately compensate them for their unique contributions to our energy mix. Across the country, we’re supporting legislators as they work on plans to help preserve base load nuclear plants and promote nuclear energy in their states.
We must promote the benefits of nuclear technology to ensure an efficient license renewal process for existing facilities as well as implement policies that support building new nuclear energy facilities. We need people like you to talk to your legislators and help us advocate for the benefits that nuclear energy brings to our communities.
